Benha National University organized an intensive 3-day training course for teachers on “Integrating Students with Special Needs into Schools,” as part of the “Awareness” initiative launched by Benha National University in collaboration with the Faculty of Education at Benha University and the Directorate of Education in Qalyubia Governorate.
According to a press release on Saturday, the course aimed to enhance teachers’ skills in dealing with students with intellectual disabilities and implementing comprehensive integration strategies.
The statement continued: 36 trainees from schools in Obour City participated in the course, where they received theoretical and practical lectures from a group of specialized professors in special education from the Faculty of Education at Benha University.
The course covered several main topics, including the concept of educational integration, success factors and obstacles, and the roles of teachers, psychological counselors, and social workers in inclusive schools. It also addressed strategies for dealing with students with mild intellectual disabilities, focusing on modern educational methods and special considerations that must be taken into account when integrating this group into regular schools.
Dr. Tamer Samir, President of the university, emphasized the importance of such courses in serving the community in Obour City by enhancing the efficiency of teachers and preparing them to deal with students with special needs. This contributes to achieving effective comprehensive integration. He pointed out that the course aims to provide a supportive educational environment for this group of students, ensuring the achievement of their educational and social goals.
