Cairo: Jasour – News Desk
Ahmed Kojak, Minister of Finance, announced today, Saturday, the extension of the work of the committees responsible for the inventory and review of all vehicles released for the benefit of persons with special needs over the past three years, to ensure that the vehicles are used for their exempted purpose, for an additional three months.
We publish the text of the decision issued by the minister, which came due to some obstacles faced by these committees, including the lack of vehicles in the governorates for committee transfers and insufficient insurance for the committee to carry out its tasks, which resulted in the committees not completing their work within the specified time frame.
The decision indicated the inventory of 10,378 vehicles in all governorates by the central committees formed within each governorate, to carry out the inventory and review of the vehicles for special needs individuals, benefiting the first owner, a person with special needs, from state-provided support, which includes exemption from customs duties and value-added tax.
In the same context, informed sources at the Customs Authority confirmed in a press statement that some beneficiaries responded and paid the taxes and fees due on the vehicle before reaching the inspection stage and entering legal procedures and fines. However, the sources did not clarify the amount collected by these committees as a result of the vehicles inventoried in all governorates.
The sources, who preferred not to be named, pointed to the continued work of the committees in light of the joint coordination between all government agencies in the governorates, to enhance and secure the work of the committees, until it is ensured that all vehicles released in the last three years are reviewed.
