Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaila, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, emphasized that caring for individuals with special needs is not just a social responsibility but a national duty requiring the collective efforts of all parties to ensure their rights and enhance their integration into society.
Al-Huwaila made this statement during the inauguration of the first introductory forum for special needs services under the slogan “Your Care is Our Goal,” organized by the Friends of the Disabled team in collaboration with the Abdulrazzaq Abdulhamid Al-Sane Will, the Integrated Care Foundation for Special Needs (ICAN), and the Volunteer Mothers of Down Syndrome Association.
Al-Huwaila stated that the forum is a proactive step towards exploring the latest technologies to serve individuals with special needs through the collaboration of government and private entities and public benefit associations. She added that it also represents a pivotal step in the journey to enhance the rights of individuals with special needs and raise community awareness about the services provided to them.
She explained that the political leadership, headed by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad, places significant importance on empowering individuals with special needs and ensuring their integration into society.
Al-Huwaila revealed that the accompanying exhibition represents a first step towards enabling individuals with special needs to enter the local job market, as their various products and innovations will be marketed. She noted that the forum’s slogan “Your Care is Our Goal” reflects everyone’s commitment to providing the best services and enhancing the quality of life for individuals with special needs.
In a similar statement, Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Hamoud Al-Jaber said that Kuwait places great importance on individuals with special needs by providing all rights and enacting supportive laws in all aspects of life, affirming the country’s commitment to integrating, rehabilitating, and caring for its citizens with special needs.
Sheikh Hamoud Al-Jaber stated that this forum is evidence of the capabilities of individuals with special needs that qualify them to integrate into society, indicating that the sponsoring and supporting entities, led by the Minister of Social Affairs, the Disability Authority, public benefit associations, and relevant entities, strive diligently to assist in empowering them and achieving their goals.
Sheikha Suhaila Al-Sabah, head of the Friends of the Disabled team, expressed her pride in organizing the forum in conjunction with the country’s national celebrations. She affirmed that the forum serves as a bridge of communication between individuals with special needs and their families on one side, and the institutions and centers, both governmental and private, that provide them with various social, educational, legal, psychological, medical, and sports services on the other side.
Sheikha Suhaila Al-Sabah mentioned that this forum will be the beginning of launching other initiatives aimed at providing more services and care for individuals with special needs.
