The Kuwait College of Science and Technology has announced the organization of the Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Conference 2025, in partnership with the TEFL Foundation. The event will be held this Saturday, from 9 AM to 5:30 PM, marking the fourth time the conference takes place in Kuwait and the second consecutive year at the college, under the theme “Language Teaching in the 21st Century… Challenges, Opportunities, and Solutions.”
In a press statement, the college highlighted that the conference aims to shed light on the challenges, opportunities, and solutions related to language teaching in the 21st century, with a focus on integrating modern technology and artificial intelligence into language education.
The statement pointed out that this prominent event will bring together several international and local experts who will participate in keynote and featured sessions on various topics affecting the field of English language teaching, including the use of artificial intelligence, teaching students with special needs, and incorporating modern skills in education.
The college announced the names of the keynote speakers, including Professor Christina Gitsaki, Research Coordinator at the Educational Innovation Center at Zayed University, UAE, presenting a paper titled “Artificial Intelligence: Challenges and Opportunities”; Dr. Hoda Shaaban, Executive Director of the Association of Professionals for Learning Difficulties in Kuwait, presenting a paper titled “Unlocking Potential: Meeting the Needs of Neurodiversity in Inclusive Classrooms”; and Joe McVeigh, a consultant from the United States, presenting a paper titled “Challenges, Opportunities, and Solutions in 21st Century Language Teaching.”
The college also noted the participation of distinguished speakers in the conference, including Professor Ahmed Al-Henayan, Deputy Director for Applied Education and Research at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, presenting a paper titled “Introducing the Competency Model for Digital Educators Towards Innovative Teaching and Learning in the Digital Age” Dr. Aga Palalas, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Athabasca University, Canada, presenting a paper titled “Enhancing Digital Health in Language Education”; Dr. Sheikha Al-Ainati from the College of Business Studies, presenting a paper titled “Developing Education Using 21st Century Skills”
Dr. Plamen Kushekov, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Athabasca University, presenting a paper titled “Harnessing Positive Emotions: Empowering English Language Teachers in AI-Supported Education”; Dr. Christine Coombe from the UAE, presenting a paper titled “Becoming an Educational Researcher: From Finding Your Niche to Academic Publishing”; and finally, Bader Al-Essa, CEO of MyU Interacting Learning, presenting a paper titled “The Evolution of Artificial Intelligence and Its Impact on Education.”
