Yassine Gharbi (born 23 March 1990) is a Paralympic athlete from Tunisia competing in T54 class wheelchair racing. He participated in the 2016 Paralympic Games and is a World Champion in both the 400 and 800 meter races.
Gharbi took up athletics in 2009 with the intent to improve his social integration. He made his senior international debut in 2010 classified as a T54 competitor. Gharbi’s first major international competition was the Mediterranean Games held in Mersin, Turkey. He took part in one event, the 1500m (T54) and finish third with a time of 3.26:81. Two years later he represented Tunisia on the world stage after he qualified for the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha.
Currently he shows us his persistence being a competitor to himself and breaking his own old records as the Tunisian athlete Yassine Al-Gharbi won the bronze medal in the 1500m wheelchair race (T54 category) at the Dubai International Grand Prix Athletics Meeting for individuals with special needs, which continues until February 13th.
Yassine Al-Gharbi completed the race in a time of 3:01.01 minutes. Tunisia is participating in this meeting with Walid Ktila competing in the 100m, 400m, and 800m races (T34 category) and Yassine Al-Gharbi competing in the 400m, 800m, 1500m, and 5000m races (T54 category).
