As part of the celebration of World Hearing Day, 40 hearing aids were distributed today in Shabwa Governorate to several students with hearing impairments. This distribution is part of the Capacity Development Response Project for educating illiterate and special needs students, funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center through its implementing partner, the Yemeni Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Work.
The project, which targets 380 individuals in six governorates (Al-Mahra, Aden, Lahij, Shabwa, Hadhramaut, and Al-Dhalea), aims to improve the quality of education and ensure that children with hearing impairments have equal educational opportunities by providing the necessary educational and rehabilitative supplies, within a comprehensive vision to support the most vulnerable groups in society.
During the distribution, Abdullah Al-Amyan, Director General of the Ataq Directorate, emphasized the importance of these projects aimed at enabling students with hearing impairments to continue their education with ease. He noted that this step is part of the efforts to improve educational services for individuals with special needs, contributing to their integration into society and achieving their aspirations.
Ali Ameir Al-Awlaqi, Director of Social Affairs and Labor, praised the role of the supporting and implementing bodies of this project, calling for the continuation of these efforts to provide a suitable educational environment for all students, especially those with special needs, to ensure they receive their full educational rights.
The distribution was attended by the Secretary-General of the Association of Individuals with Special Needs, along with several dignitaries, directors of associations, institutions, local and international organizations, project beneficiaries, and their parents.
