Several executives and staff members of associations for the care of individuals with special needs in Sfax organized a protest in front of the regional administration headquarters for social affairs, demanding the payment of their wages for the month of February.
Makram Qatata, Secretary-General of the University Branch for Social Affairs, Associations, and Solidarity in Sfax, expressed his regret in a statement to the Tunis Afrique Presse Agency, that this protest was carried out due to a livelihood-related issue, specifically the non-payment of February’s salary to sector employees, especially since it coincided with the holy month of Ramadan.
He attributed the delay in the payment of salaries by the supervisory authority to the delayed transfer of funds to the Tunisian Union for Social Solidarity, noting that this delay is not the first, but it became the focus of protest due to the coincidence with the month of Ramadan.
Qatata called on the supervisory authority to reconsider the sector and its structure, and to resolve the situation of employees receiving meager wages, and to align their wages with all their colleagues in the Ministry of Social Affairs.
