The latest issue of the official gazette, issue number “12,” has published a law related to the protection of individuals with special needs.
The new law stipulates that individuals with special needs will benefit from free or discounted transportation fares for public transport by land, sea, and rail.
Additionally, individuals with special needs, with a 100% disability rate, will benefit from discounts on domestic public air travel fares.
Companions of individuals with special needs will also receive discounts on domestic public air travel fares.
Individuals with special needs, with a 100% disability rate, will benefit from discounts on renting and purchasing social housing.
The law also mandates employers to allocate 1% of job positions to individuals with special needs. In cases where this is not feasible, the employer or user must pay an annual financial contribution to the public treasury to develop and promote professional integration programs for individuals with special needs.
The law also requires architectural modifications to shops, premises, and residential buildings to enable individuals with special needs to access them easily.
This measure includes schools, universities, training centers, religious, health, administrative institutions, and places designated for social, sports, economic, recreational, and cultural activities.
Furthermore, the law facilitates access to public services, facilities, and tourist sites, and eases the use of public transportation and media and communication tools.
The law also designates seating areas in public transportation for individuals with special needs and allocates 5% of parking spaces in public parking lots for individuals with special needs and their companions.
Additionally, the law grants priority in reception at public and private administrative institutions for individuals with special needs.
