Surur Saeed Mohammed, Director of National Teams at the UAE Special Olympics, revealed that 50 athletes participated in the Active Clubs Forum organized by the Special Olympics at the Khor Fakkan Club for People with Disabilities.
The UAE Special Olympics organized the Active Clubs Forum for Boccia on Tuesday as part of its agenda to integrate individuals with special needs and encourage them to participate in sports.
Surur Saeed Mohammed, Director of National Teams at the UAE Special Olympics, stated that about 50 athletes from various clubs and centers for individuals with special needs across the country participated in the Boccia competitions.
He explained that several accompanying activities were organized, including general health check-ups for the participants and dental examinations.
This event is part of a broader initiative to support and integrate individuals with special needs into sports and recreational activities. The forum aims to provide these athletes with opportunities to showcase their talents, develop their skills, and promote their inclusion in the sports community.
The event typically includes various sports activities and competitions, such as sitting volleyball, table tennis, athletics, and weightlifting, all under the guidance of specialized coaches. The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which provides programs and projects specifically designed for individuals with special needs throughout the year.
