A total of 637 male and female athletes are set to compete in the National Athletics Championship, organized by the UAE Athletics Federation. The competitions will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Al-Thiqa Club for the Disabled and Al-Nasr Club Stadium, spanning four age categories: youth, juniors, boys, and girls.
The federation has completed all the necessary arrangements for the championship and finalized the participants’ lists after the registration deadline. The event will feature intense races, including 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, 5000 meters, 3000 meters steeplechase, 10000 meters walk, as well as 100 meters hurdles for girls, 110 meters hurdles for boys, and relay races 4×200 meters and 4×400 meters hurdles. Additionally, there will be high jump, long jump, pole vault, hammer throw, shot put, and javelin throw competitions.
Ali Hassan Ghazwan, a member of the Board of Directors of the UAE Athletics Federation and the Chairman of the National Teams and Referees Committee, emphasized that the championship is a key event in the federation’s calendar this season. It aims to enhance the competitive efficiency of the athletes and prepare them for upcoming regional and Gulf competitions.
