In light of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to focus on people with special needs and within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Egyptian universities to achieve Egypt’s Vision 2030, which pays special attention to empowering people with special needs in all fields, Dr. Khaled El-Dardery, President of Zagazig University, and Dr. Hilal Afifi, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, honored special needs students who participated in the “Paralympic Sports Event for Universities for People with Special Needs,” titled “We Are Life.
” The event was held in Alexandria from December 5 to December 8, under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Anani, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Advisor to the University President for Student Activities, and Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education for Health Policies.
This honor comes in recognition of Zagazig University’s advanced positions, which included eight gold medals, eight silver medals, and nine bronze medals in distinguished sports competitions such as athletics, table tennis, sitting volleyball, goalball, and weightlifting. These competitions saw the participation of 700 special needs students from 24 Egyptian universities. Zagazig University participated with a team of 45 students under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Metwally, Director of the General Administration of Student Care, Dr. Hala Farouk, Head of the Special Needs Team, Dr. Mohamed Gamal Al-Shaer, Dr. Essam Amer, Dr. Mohamed Ramadan, Dr. Michael Gerges, and Dr. Mahmoud Younis, supervisors of group and individual games for special needs.
Dr. Khaled El-Dardery expressed his happiness with the achievement of his special needs students, emphasizing the university’s commitment to providing all means of support to ensure their active participation in various student activities. He praised their determination, which honors the university in all sports events.
Similarly, Dr. Hilal Afifi confirmed the university’s commitment to creating a suitable educational environment for special needs students, extending his gratitude to the supervisors for their role in supporting, caring for, and continuously encouraging the students to compete and excel.
