Kuwait will be represented by three athletes in the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin, Italy, scheduled from March 8 to 15, 2025. The athletes will compete in the events of ice skating and ice running. The national manager of the Kuwaiti Special Olympics, Raghda Boursli, emphasized the country’s commitment to providing all necessary resources to ensure the athletes’ success and to present a positive image of sports for people with intellectual disabilities1.
The athletes, Abdullah Al-Ali and Haqer Al-Rashidi, will participate in ice running, while Mariam Dhiaab will compete in ice skating. The preparations for the games have been rigorous, including training camps and a specialized health and nutrition program
Raghda Boursli, the national manager of the Kuwaiti Special Olympics, announced that Kuwait will participate in the global event with three athletes competing in ice skating and ice running. She added that the Kuwaiti Special Olympics is committed to utilizing all available resources to present an honorable image of sports for those with intellectual disabilities.
Boursli praised the athletes’ dedication to various training sessions preceding the event, particularly their determination to achieve success at this global sports gathering, which will feature 1,500 athletes from over 100 countries. She emphasized the importance of continuing Kuwaiti excellence, similar to the achievements made by Kuwaiti Special Olympics champions at the World Games in Berlin 2023.
