In the Al Jimi area of Al Ain, a Pink Walk was held to coincide with the global Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event was organized by Mediclinic Al Jowhara Hospital in collaboration with the Emirates Cancer Society and Al Ain Rotana. The walk saw participation from Sheikh Dr. Salem Mohammed bin Rakad, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Cancer Society, Awad Salem Al-Saadi, Executive Director, and members of the society, as well as numerous officials, doctors, representatives of health, charitable and humanitarian organizations, and employees from various entities, universities, and schools.
The walk, which toured the Al Khubaisi area near the Al Ain Convention and Exhibition Center, included speeches, entertainment activities, and sports segments, with approximately 470 participants and volunteers in attendance.
In his speech, Sheikh Dr. Salem bin Rakad expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Mediclinic Hospitals and their management, and to all participating entities for supporting the message of raising breast cancer awareness, serving patients, and warning the community about the risks of breast cancer, emphasizing the importance of regular screenings. Speeches were also delivered by Philip Tyler, Director of Mediclinic Al Ain Hospitals; Dr. Maha Majid, Medical Director at Mediclinic Al Jowhara; and Pierre Zabon, Director of Al Ain Rotana. They emphasized that the annual Pink Walk in October aims to increase community awareness and highlight the importance of proactive steps for breast cancer prevention.
The walk also included participation from members of the Abu Dhabi Police, the Family Development Foundation, and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
