Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, and Engineer Khaled Abdel Aziz, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Alliance for Developmental Civil Work, signed a joint cooperation protocol to implement economic empowerment projects. These projects aim to support and motivate individuals with special needs to undertake projects that match their skills and experiences, support economic growth opportunities, reduce unemployment rates through decent job opportunities, and provide a dignified life and improve their living conditions.
The protocol aims to empower women, youth, and individuals with special needs in the “Decent Life” villages across six governorates: Aswan, Assiut, Beni Suef, Giza, Alexandria, and Dakahlia. It targets individuals aged 21 to 55, creating an integrated system to empower low-income individuals and families, integrating as many of them as possible into successful economic and productive activities, and implementing projects to improve the economic and social status of the targeted Egyptian families, especially female breadwinners.
Dr. Maya Morsi congratulated Engineer Khaled Abdel Aziz on his appointment as Chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, wishing him success in his mission, given the pivotal role of media in building awareness and advancing Egyptian media.
Dr. Maya Morsi expressed her happiness with this cooperation between the ministry and the National Alliance for Developmental Civil Work, which aims to achieve economic empowerment for women and youth in the “Decent Life” villages across six governorates. This initiative seeks to break the cycle of poverty and achieve the goals of the “Takaful and Karama” program in achieving economic empowerment and independence for beneficiaries, thus driving development forward.
The Minister of Social Solidarity highlighted the ministry’s role in providing social protection and comprehensive care for eligible citizens. The ministry works to coordinate and integrate efforts with various ministries, entities, and the private and civil sectors to invest in joint work for the development of citizens and society. The goal is to reach marginalized and vulnerable groups by combining protection and economic empowerment through a comprehensive and diverse package of economic empowerment services, emphasizing the value of work as a fundamental means to escape poverty.
Engineer Khaled Abdel Aziz affirmed that this protocol embodies the National Alliance’s commitment to supporting the Egyptian state’s efforts in achieving sustainable development and social justice. He expressed pride in collaborating with the Ministry of Social Solidarity on this vital project, which will contribute to empowering women and youth in the “Decent Life” villages by providing sustainable job opportunities and improving their living standards.
Ambassador Nabila Makram highlighted the importance of this project in achieving economic empowerment for women and youth in rural areas and its role in enhancing their participation in the development process, creating a more equitable and prosperous society.
The protocol stipulates cooperation between the two parties in training on managing economic projects, providing microloans, vocational training, training on e-marketing, holding awareness meetings, conducting veterinary care campaigns, insuring livestock projects and production units, and supporting marketing opportunities. It also aims to enhance the partner associations implementing economic empowerment services to ensure they provide professional services tailored to the targeted groups.
The signing of the protocol was witnessed by Ambassador Nabila Makram, Chairwoman of the Technical Secretariat of the National Alliance for Developmental Civil Work, members of the Board of Trustees of the Alliance, and leaders from the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
