In support of educational initiatives for students with special needs, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, through its partner, Yemeni Foundation, organized a ceremony today to distribute digital hearing aids to students with special needs in Al Mahrah Governorate.
This activity is part of the second phase of the “Local Capacity Building for Literacy and Special Needs Students” project, funded by the King Salman Center, and implemented in six Yemeni governorates: Al Mahrah, Aden, Lahij, Shabwa, Hadhramaut, and Al Dhale’e.
During the ceremony, 48 digital hearing aids with custom molds were distributed to the targeted students, out of a total of 380 children with special needs in the six governorates. The event was attended by the students’ families, several officials, social figures, and media representatives, with the aim of improving the quality of education and ensuring that students with special needs receive equal educational opportunities in an inclusive learning environment. This initiative enables these students to access high-quality education and equal opportunities.
Ahmed Qwaizan, Deputy of Technical Affairs in Al Mahrah Governorate, emphasized that the project helps address the challenges faced by educational institutions in supporting children with special needs. Yemeni Foundation Coordinator Hafidh Al Nahari expressed his happiness about the event, saying, “Today, we create joy and fulfill the wishes of 48 students who dreamt of hearing a single word from their mothers and look forward to joining education like other children.”
The distribution ceremony was attended by the Director-General of the Social Affairs Office in Al Mahrah Governorate, Faiz Ali Suhail Balhaf and Deputy Assistant of the King Salman Center in Al Mahrah Office, Ali Al Mutairi, and King Salman Center Relief Coordinator, Salem Ahmed Al Saqqaf.
