The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy revealed the total water consumption for the past year, which amounted to 173.258 million gallons. The ministry explained in its annual statistical report that the per capita share of total annual water consumption was 35.653 gallons, while the per capita daily consumption was 97 gallons.
The ministry pointed out that the annual increase rate in water consumption was 2.7%, reflecting the rising demand for water resources due to population growth and ongoing urban developments.
Sources from the Ministry of Electricity attributed the increase in water consumption to several factors, most notably the growing population, industrial growth, and urban expansion requiring larger quantities of water. Climate changes and rising temperatures in the summer also play a role in increasing water demand, especially for daily use.
The ministry emphasized the importance of rationalizing water consumption and raising awareness among citizens and residents about the necessity of preserving these vital resources. The ministry is committed to implementing various initiatives and programs aimed at improving water use efficiency, including projects to improve water distribution networks and update measurement and monitoring technologies to ensure the sustainability of water resources in the future.
Additionally, the Assistant Undersecretary for Administrative Affairs at the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, Ahmed Al-Nama, issued a decision outlining the mechanism for fingerprint attendance verification for employees. The decision states that the official working hours for ministry employees start from 7 AM to 8 AM, with the first hour being flexible. Employees must verify their attendance within 60 minutes after two hours of fingerprint check-in.
Al-Nama’s decision clarifies that the flexible fingerprint verification mechanism, if the attendance is between 8 and 8:30 AM, will be from 10 to 11 AM, with a 30-minute grace period that is not counted within actual working hours.
The decision also states that employees are exempt from attendance verification if they are special needs individuals or caregivers. It further specifies the attendance verification times for those granted reduced working hours.
Those granted two hours of reduction at the beginning of the workday must verify their attendance from 11 AM to 12 PM, while those granted one hour of reduction must verify attendance from 10 to 11 AM. For those granted two hours of reduction at the end of the workday, attendance verification is from 9 to 10 AM.
The decision noted that some employees were unaware of the new attendance verification mechanism, and if fingerprint verification occurs after 11 AM, employees who made this mistake must notify the administrative affairs department with their names, civil numbers, and incorrect attendance verification dates for correction.
