As part of their efforts to enhance sensory perception among the visually impaired and those with visual disabilities, students Mayar Mohamed and Jawhara Al-Hail from Moza Bint Mohammed Primary School for Girls conducted an innovative research project under the supervision of visual arts teacher Yasmin Al-Shenawi. The research aims to explore how aromatic oils and colors can be used to improve the quality of life and increase interaction with the surrounding environment.
As part of the research, the students visited Al Noor Institute, affiliated with the Shafallah Center, and the Qatari Cultural Center for the Blind. During these visits, practical experiments were conducted to combine aromatic oils with colors, allowing participants to experience the effects of these elements on sensory perception.
Preliminary results showed that combining aromatic oils with colors can enhance sensory perception among the visually impaired. For example, using lavender oil with the color purple helped enhance feelings of calm and comfort, while using peppermint oil with the color green increased feelings of freshness and vitality.
This research is a significant step toward developing new strategies to improve the quality of life for the visually impaired. By combining aromatic oils with colors, positive effects can be achieved on participants’ mental and physical health.
The research also reflects the commitment of students Mayar Mohamed and Jawhara Al-Hail to providing innovative and impactful solutions in the field of education and sensory interaction, serving as an exemplary model in the field of scientific and applied research.
Innovative research like this offers new hope and enhanced opportunities for visually impaired community members, providing the necessary tools and techniques to help them communicate more effectively with the world around them. Through experiments conducted at Al Noor Institute and the Qatari Cultural Center for the Blind, these individuals are given a chance not only to experience the world in new ways but also to participate in developing tools that improve their lives.
