As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the educational system and promote the integration of students with special needs into society, the Sharjah Parents Council, affiliated with the Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs, held a brainstorming session in collaboration with the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services. This session aimed to exchange views and ideas on developing early childhood intervention programs and improving services provided to this group.
The meeting, held this Friday morning at the headquarters of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services in Sharjah, is part of the Parents Council’s efforts to enhance community partnership and provide an inclusive educational environment. This initiative aligns with Sharjah’s vision to support and care for individuals with special needs, ensuring they have equal opportunities for education, growth, and development.
During the session, attendees discussed the main challenges faced by parents of students with special needs and the importance of providing a supportive educational environment that meets their needs. They also explored the best global practices that can be utilized in the field of inclusive education.
Participants emphasized the importance of continuous cooperation between educational and community institutions to ensure the delivery of quality programs that help develop children’s skills and enable them to participate effectively in society.
The attendees highlighted the importance of launching awareness and training initiatives targeting parents, students, and teachers to raise awareness of issues related to special needs and to enhance concepts of acceptance and integration within the educational and community environment.
The session also included the proposal and organization of workshops and training programs that empower parents and teachers to use advanced teaching methods suitable for the needs of this group, positively reflecting on their abilities and improving their quality of life.
