The Board of Trustees of the National Human Rights Authority recently held its 15th periodic meeting, chaired by Maqsoud Cruz, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The agenda included following up on the implementation of previous decisions and reviewing the quarterly performance report of the General Secretariat, which included 28 projects related to operational systems, administrative and financial affairs, procurement, and human resources.
The Board also approved the operational plan and annual budget for 2025, prepared by the General Secretariat of the Authority in accordance with the “strategic guidelines,” which focus on four main human rights issues: workers’ rights, women’s and children’s rights, special needs rights, and the right to health and mental health.
The operational plan includes the launch of 34 human rights programs, including the “Legislation Lab,” the “Human Rights Issues Lab,” and the “Knowledge Lab” in the context of human rights and legal studies. It also involves forming specialized committees and technical teams to conduct field visits and educational workshops aimed at establishing the concept and culture of human rights in cooperation with various state institutions. The plan also includes the “Manaber” rights culture seminars and the semi-annual digital magazine “Huquq” as part of its awareness and knowledge activities.
The Board also reviewed the progress related to the completion of complaint reception systems and the associated digital services, which include the launch of the smart application, updates to the complaints page on the website, and the contact center for receiving complaints.
