In its commitment to fulfilling its responsibilities towards all segments of society, particularly those with special needs, the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) announced the successful completion of a training program for special needs students from Dasman School. The program aimed to encourage them to train and engage in the banking experience.
The program lasted for two weeks within the local branch management, aiming to familiarize participants with the nature of branch operations and banking methods while providing an inclusive and supportive environment for special needs students. This allowed them to gain real-world knowledge and develop essential skills to be more aware of the future job market.
The program witnessed active participation from students in various activities and tasks, which were carefully designed to match their abilities and interests. They had the opportunity to gain practical experience in managing the bank’s local branches.
Throughout the program, NBK employees worked closely with the students, providing guidance, mentoring, and support to enhance their understanding of the banking industry and build their confidence in the work environment.
The participating students from Dasman School visited the bank to receive their training completion certificates. The executive management attended the ceremony, praising the students for their enthusiasm, determination, and progress during the program. On this occasion, Ghadeer Al-Kouhaji, Head of Talent Acquisition at NBK, said, “We are extremely proud to host special needs students from Dasman School, giving them the opportunity to learn, grow, and support their future career paths.
” She explained that NBK is a pioneer in providing all kinds of support for special needs individuals by developing services and providing the necessary facilities to make certain bank branches accessible to them. Additionally, the bank offers ATMs with Braille keyboards and headphones, enabling visually impaired clients to withdraw money.
Al-Kouhaji added, “We have a firm belief in the potential of every individual in our community, and this program reflects our commitment to enhancing inclusivity and providing equal opportunities for all segments, including this beloved group.”
She noted that NBK is the first bank in Kuwait to dedicate employees in all its branches to provide services in sign language for hearing-impaired clients. It also offers iPads with speech-to-text capabilities for visually impaired clients, as well as providing wheelchairs for easier access to branches and clearly marked parking spaces for special needs individuals.
