Dr. Engineer Nabil Al-Kawafha, Mayor of Greater Irbid, confirmed that the municipality’s future projects will be implemented according to standards that serve people with special needs.
During a meeting to enhance partnership with the Community Rehabilitation Committee of the “Hi” organization and Al-Nahda Association for Special Needs, Al-Kawafha stated that the municipality has provided many services for special needs individuals. These include establishing a model area for them around Yarmouk University and converting the main municipality building into a special needs-friendly building by preparing all its entrances and exits to facilitate their access, use, and full benefit from its services.
He added that the municipality will allocate a permanent site for various associations by providing one of the spaces to be shared by several associations, allowing these associations to build and operate the site while maintaining the independence of each association.
Dr. Saleh Al-Sharafat, President of the Al-Nahda Association for Special Needs, praised the municipality’s efforts in serving people with special needs and emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership to provide ideal services for them.
Participants in the meeting stressed the need to organize inclusive activities for special needs individuals with different community groups and involve them in the municipality’s future activities and projects.
