The Omani Special Olympics has signed a memorandum of understanding with “Snow Oman” to train and prepare athletes participating in the upcoming Special Olympics World Winter Games, scheduled to be held in Turin, Italy, next March. The agreement was signed by Olivier Saez, Vice President of Snow Global, and Nabila Al-Harthi, National Director of the Omani Special Olympics.
The agreement aims to provide specialized training programs and comprehensive technical support for the athletes, enhancing their readiness for international competitions. “Snow Oman” will handle logistical support and provide the necessary resources to ensure the delegation’s best possible performance at the global event.
The signing ceremony, attended by His Excellency Basel bin Ahmed Al-Rawahi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, highlighted the focus on empowering athletes with intellectual disabilities and promoting inclusion through sports.
Officials from the Omani Special Olympics and “Snow Oman” expressed their happiness with this partnership, emphasizing the importance of sports in promoting social inclusion and developing athletes’ skills. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to support athletes with intellectual disabilities and reflects the Sultanate’s commitment to providing opportunities for their active participation in global sporting events.
Olivier Saez, Vice President of Snow Global, stated, “We are proud to embark on this journey with the Omani Special Olympics and work together to prepare the national team for the Special Olympics World Winter Games. Through sports, we can enhance inclusivity, celebrate diversity, and provide a platform for athletes of all abilities to showcase their talent, determination, and resilience.”
