The Central Agency for Public Tenders in Kuwait has approved the launch of the practice for prosthetic devices for special needs individuals, including wheelchairs, hearing aids, and all other devices, with a total value exceeding 6 million Kuwaiti dinars. This initiative aims to expedite the processing of hundreds of delayed requests from special needs individuals seeking these devices.
The practice includes a new mechanism that is expected to reduce the waiting time for receiving devices from years to months, thereby alleviating the suffering of thousands of special needs individuals who have faced long delays in receiving their prosthetic devices. The tender will be open for two weeks, allowing specialized companies to participate.
Acting Director of the Public Authority for Special Needs Affairs, Wafaa Al-Muhanna, revealed that the distribution of devices is expected to begin with the new fiscal year 2025/2026. In a press statement, Al-Muhanna emphasized that filling vacant supervisory positions in the Authority for directors, supervisors, and department heads will commence after the annual employee evaluation. This will follow the completion of the automated integration with the Civil Service Commission’s systems regarding the implementation of the fingerprint attendance system, expected to be completed in the coming days.
