Prince Dr. Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, Mayor of Riyadh, inaugurated the Municipal Center for Individuals with Special Needs in the Al-Hamra district of Riyadh, on behalf of Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh.
The center will offer a range of integrated services for individuals with special needs, including social, cultural, recreational, and sports activities. These services aim to provide a comprehensive and sustainable environment for this community, contributing to improving the quality of life for beneficiaries and their integration into society.
During the opening ceremony, the Mayor of Riyadh emphasized that such a center will play a pivotal role in serving this valued community, stating, “We see individuals with special needs as active and essential partners in building our society and achieving accomplishments. We are working on establishing advanced centers that assist them in various cultural, sports, and community fields that interest them… and also to understand the challenges that may hinder this community in society and ways to overcome them.”
He added, “The opening of this center comes as part of the municipality’s efforts to launch several centers in various neighborhoods of Riyadh.”
The Prince toured the center’s facilities, which include tennis courts, basketball courts, a comprehensive sports track, multiple halls, a dedicated training room, an electronic games hall, rooms equipped for companions, a conference room, and offices. He also received a detailed explanation from center officials who belong to the community of individuals with special needs.
Covering an area of 7,700 square meters, the center targets individuals with physical, visual, and auditory disabilities, with a capacity to accommodate more than 400 people. The center is distinguished by offering comprehensive services that meet the needs of individuals with special needs, focusing on enhancing physical fitness, developing skills, and increasing community participation.
The Al-Hamra Center is part of the efforts of the Riyadh Municipality to make Riyadh a city that encourages participation and social responsibility, providing a unique experience for beneficiaries and initiatives of added value. This project aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to make Riyadh a sustainable and prosperous city, offering a stimulating and safe environment for all.
