Today, the Municipal Council of Dhofar Governorate concluded its regular meetings for the second year of the third period, chaired by His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar and Chairman of the Council. During the meeting, the council discussed several topics related to developing services and municipal work in various states of the governorate, in addition to approving the minutes of the ninth meeting and its recommendations.
The council reviewed the results of the joint meeting between the Health and Environmental Affairs Committee and the Governorate Development and Growth Committee, which discussed a proposal to establish a goods distribution center. The project aims to alleviate pressure on infrastructure, create job opportunities and additional income for youth, and enhance monitoring of goods movement.
Regarding supporting special needs individuals and promoting innovation, the meeting discussed the Social Affairs Committee’s recommendations on empowering special needs individuals to learn vehicle driving. It also reviewed the results of the committee’s visit to the Innovation and Scientific Robotics Center affiliated with the Directorate of Education, which aims to provide a stimulating environment for students to develop their innovation and scientific research skills.
The council praised the awareness campaign “Willpower Creates Change” and the initiative “Volunteering: A Value That Builds Communities,” organized in cooperation with the Omani Association for Special Needs Individuals and several volunteer teams. The campaign focused on the importance of social inclusion and the role of special needs individuals in building an inclusive society.
