Cairo: Jasour – News Desk
The National Council for Persons with Disabilities, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor, launched the “Our Hands Towards Participation and Equality in Work” project. This initiative targets the governorates of Greater Cairo, Alexandria, Sharqia, Damietta, Minya, and Sohag, running from March 2025 to April 2026.
The project aims to provide several training programs for Ministry of Labor service providers in the basics of sign language and etiquette. It includes educational seminars for individuals with disabilities, meetings with business owners, and awareness videos in sign language about the various services offered by the Ministry of Labor.
In this context, Dr. Iman Kareem, General Supervisor of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, stated that the project is part of the cooperation protocol signed between the council and the Ministry of Labor earlier this year.
The project aims to enhance the participation of individuals with disabilities in the labor market, promote equality in employment opportunities, identify the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in this regard, and raise awareness among business owners on how to interact with individuals with disabilities. The project also seeks to enhance the economic and social empowerment of individuals with disabilities in the community and provide training centers to prepare them for the job market.
Dr. Kareem added that the training aims to build the capacities of Ministry of Labor service providers and establish a strong partnership with the Ministry of Labor in employment forums, working to establish the principle of equality in work and encourage individuals with disabilities to engage in public life. She noted that the project governorates were selected based on geographical distribution that considers “decentralization” and presence in various Egyptian regions.
