The issue of customs exemptions for vehicles of individuals with special needs remains prominent, as the government continues to issue decisions and regulations regarding the release of these vehicles. Recently, the government announced good news for the owners of special needs vehicles currently held at ports, which had been pending release.
The new government decision pertains to special needs vehicles imported before the issuance of the latest decision by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, No. 3500 of 2024, which amends certain provisions of the executive regulations of the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, specifically the regulation related to the bank transfer for the vehicle price when enjoying the exemption.
The new release decision exempts owners of special needs vehicles from providing proof of the ability to make a financial transfer from the bank account of the individual with special needs or from one of their first-degree relatives. Instead, it is sufficient to provide proof of financial solvency, whether through ownership of a bank or postal account or a private property sales contract.
It is worth noting that the regulation related to the bank transfer in the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 3500 of 2024, which amends certain provisions of the executive regulations of the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, stipulates that the applicant for the exemption or one of their first-degree relatives must have an open bank account at Nasser Social Bank or one of the banks approved by the Central Bank for at least one year before applying for the exemption, with an amount not less than the price of the vehicle deposited in this account.
The government has exempted owners of special needs vehicles imported before the issuance of the latest Prime Minister’s decision regarding customs exemption regulations for individuals with special needs.
