The National Permanent Committee for Report Preparation and Follow-up on Human Rights Recommendations held its first meeting of 2025, chaired by the Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs, Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Al-Sabah, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters to monitor the implementation of its international obligations and strengthen its approach in this regard.
During the meeting, Sheikha Jawaher emphasized that this meeting represents a fundamental step in enhancing cooperation between the government and civil society, highlighting Kuwait’s commitment to fulfilling its international obligations and promoting human rights at all levels.
She explained that this meeting continues a series of meetings held by the committee during 2024, reaffirming its approach based on cooperation and partnership with various relevant parties. The committee reviewed the key achievements made over the past year, reflecting Kuwait’s fulfillment of its international commitments, especially within the framework of its second year as a member of the Human Rights Council. This included the discussion of the sixth periodic national report on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).
The meeting also discussed the fourth periodic report on the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CAT) and the submission of the fourth national report on progress regarding the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action after 30 years.
