Kuwait: Jasour – News Desk
Today, Monday, the 13th humanitarian aid plane from the Kuwaiti air bridge departed for Syria, carrying 40 tons of food supplies and several wheelchairs for those with special needs in Syria, as part of the campaign “Kuwait Stands by You.”
This campaign is organized by the Kuwait Red Crescent Society in cooperation and coordination with the ministries of Social Affairs, Foreign Affairs, and Defense, represented by the Kuwaiti Air Force.
The Chairman of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Ambassador Khaled Al-Maghames, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) before the plane took off for Damascus International Airport that this aid comes within the framework of the initiatives undertaken by the State of Kuwait, translating the high directives of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled.
Ambassador Al-Maghames added that this humanitarian aid also stems from the Kuwaiti people’s commitment to supporting their Syrian brothers, given the current unstable conditions in Syria, emphasizing the importance of standing by them in light of the historical brotherly ties between the two peoples.
He pointed out that the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society continues to coordinate with the Syrian Red Crescent to determine the basic requirements of food, medicine, and shelter supplies and to urgently address the shortage of essential needs.
He praised the role of the Ministry of Defense, represented by the Kuwaiti Air Force, for dedicating its aircraft to relief operations and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Social Affairs for their contribution to the success of the humanitarian mission, expressing gratitude to the volunteers in the association for supervising and preparing aid for the Syrian brothers.
He affirmed the society’s keenness to respond quickly to natural disasters in various hotspots around the world through organized coordination to deliver all kinds of aid to affected areas wherever they may be.
A volunteer from the Kuwait Red Crescent Society accompanies the plane to coordinate with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, oversee the distribution of aid, and identify the main needs and other humanitarian tasks.
This is the fourth flight by the Kuwait Red Crescent Society as part of the Kuwaiti air bridge to Syria, which began on December 30, 2024, bringing the total cargo of relief materials and various aids to 100 tons of food, medicine, and shelter supplies.
