Dr. Nour Osama, a psychological consultant, confirmed that color tests are an important tool for understanding the psychological tendencies and personalities of children and adolescents, as they help reveal their inner feelings and how they deal with them. He explained that a child’s preference for a certain color can reflect their psychological state and personal inclinations.
During an interview with journalist Marwa Shatala on the “Home” program, broadcast on the People’s Channel, Dr. Osama said, “For example, if a child loves the color red intensely, it could indicate a desire to attract attention or show themselves prominently, and if they prefer dark colors like black, it might be a sign of entering a phase of depression or frustration. Some children choose specific colors in their daily lives, such as furniture or clothing colors, and these choices can give us an idea of their psychological state.”
He emphasized the importance of understanding these signals accurately, as they can help in early detection of stress or depression. He pointed out that colors can be a strong indicator of self-confidence, for example, if a child loves the color blue intensely, it could be a sign that they feel isolated or believe that people do not like them.
Regarding adolescence, he explained that it is one of the most challenging stages that individuals go through, whether girls or boys, as they face significant challenges in determining their personal identity and social characteristics.
He said, “Adolescence is a new and difficult stage, where young people undergo physical and emotional changes, in addition to searching for an independent identity. Some studies suggest that the frontal lobe of the brain, responsible for forming personality, has not fully developed during this stage.”
“We are currently facing a delayed adolescence compared to the past. It used to be common for children to go through adolescence faster and reach puberty earlier, but now, with social and technological changes, adolescents face difficulties in discovering themselves and dealing with psychological pressures.”
He concluded: “It is very important to understand these changes in adolescents’ lives and provide them with the necessary support to better understand themselves, whether through psychological tests or through proper health guidance that helps them build a healthy and independent personality.”
