Rehab Boursli, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kuwaiti Association for the Families of Persons with Disabilities, has won the position of Second Vice President of the Arab Organization for Persons with Disabilities for the period from 2025-2028. This election took place during the seventh general conference of the Arab Organization for Persons with Disabilities held in Cairo, attended by members of the executive office, the Board of Commissioners, and the General Assembly.
Boursli expressed her happiness and pride in the trust placed in her by the members of the General Assembly of the organization. She acknowledged that this trust increases her responsibility to exert more effort to achieve the organization’s mission, especially in light of the ongoing challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in the region. She emphasized the importance of activating the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and raising community awareness about disability to contribute to achieving the sustainable development goals related to disability for 2030.
Boursli appreciated the efforts made by the organization since its establishment in 1998 to support the rights of individuals with disabilities and improve their quality of life through projects, initiatives, workshops, seminars, and training courses. The organization has consistently highlighted and addressed all issues related to individuals with disabilities.
The conference began with a regional seminar on individuals with disabilities during conflicts, emergencies, and earthquakes in the Arab world (Safety and Security of Persons with Disabilities). Approximately 50 participants from organizations for individuals with disabilities from Arab countries, along with relevant stakeholders, took part in the seminar.
