Dr. Gamal Mohammed Gamal, Head of the Medical Authority at the Hospital for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Chairman of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Departments, announced the launch of the 6th Kuwait Conference on Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The conference will be held under the patronage of Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi from January 9 to 11 at Salwa Sabah Al-Ahmad Hall, under the slogan “The Rehabilitation Journey Continues… Current Updates and Recommendations.”
Dr. Gamal explained that the conference aims to introduce the latest standards and techniques in the field of medical rehabilitation from around the world, with the goal of raising awareness about the importance of rehabilitation and enhancing the efficiency of professionals in this field through continuous training and capacity development. He added that this event represents an important step towards building a healthy society free from the challenges faced by special needs patients and improving the level of medical rehabilitation services to address various diseases and health issues.
He pointed out that the conference aligns with Kuwait Vision 2035 and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals by supporting professionals in the field of medical rehabilitation and improving the quality of life for the community. He emphasized that achieving these goals primarily depends on developing medical competencies and modern technologies.
Dr. Gamal continued by noting that the conference will feature two specialized workshops: the first on the use of ultrasound for diagnosing and treating joint and muscle problems such as the knee, shoulder, and ankle, and the second on diagnosing and treating muscle spasms associated with central nervous system conditions like strokes and spinal cord injuries. These workshops will be supervised by a group of international doctors.
He also mentioned that the conference will include lectures and training sessions covering various topics such as spinal cord injuries, sports injuries, strokes, back pain, and aging problems. Additionally, scientific and medical posters reflecting the scientific research movement within Kuwait will be presented.
Dr. Gamal added that the conference will see the participation of 25 doctors from within Kuwait and seven doctors from countries such as Canada, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE, providing an opportunity to exchange experiences with international experts and enhance cooperation in the field of medical rehabilitation.
