The Ministry of Social Solidarity confirmed the launch of the “We’ll Reach You” campaign to deliver services to beneficiaries in their locations. This initiative is in cooperation with the Life Makers Foundation and the Egyptian Red Crescent, emphasizing that no citizen will be left feeling isolated or deprived. The campaign also includes organizing medical convoys to raise awareness about early detection of special needs, and providing psychological and social support in cooperation with civil society. It ensures that special needs individuals benefiting from cash support also receive healthcare services in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the “Best Companion” initiative to integrate special needs individuals.
The ministry offers training and economic empowerment for special needs individuals. Since the beginning of 2024, it has employed 1,318 special needs individuals in coordination with the private sector and banks, launched the National Network for Rehabilitation and Employment Services in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications, and provided easy-term loans and support for handicrafts through exhibitions.
Like “Diarna.” It also supported special needs students by integrating 587 deaf and hard-of-hearing students into 13 universities with the support of 83 sign language interpreters at an annual cost of 2.9 million Egyptian pounds, and supported visually impaired students in 19 public universities with scholarships worth 900,000 Egyptian pounds annually. Additionally, it equipped the first electronic library at Zagazig University and supported a computer lab with 494,500 Egyptian pounds, and established 220 special needs nurseries nationwide.
The ministry also provides rehabilitation and care services through 548 rehabilitation entities, including physiotherapy, speech therapy, and comprehensive rehabilitation. It established 20 rehabilitation centers in Hayat Karima villages, which are being prepared for operation. It is developing disability complexes in Marg, Ain Shams, and Talbia at a total cost of 19.4 million Egyptian pounds, and is developing the Old Cairo complex at a cost of 3.8 million Egyptian pounds.
The ministry provided 3,395 prosthetic devices, spare parts for cochlear implants, and full scholarships for high school graduates in cooperation with NGOs. Additionally, it equipped six production centers in the first phase for manufacturing prosthetic limbs in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense.
