Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh Honors Parliament Member for Outstanding Achievement in National Athletics Championship for Individuals with Special Needs.
On Monday, Major General Dr. Alaa Abdel-Moaty, Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh, honored Member of Parliament and national athletics team player Maha Shaaban Abu Salem for her remarkable achievement of winning two gold medals in the National Championship, which serves as a qualifier for international and global competitions. The governor expressed his full support for the distinguished athletes of the governorate, voicing his hope that they continue to excel at this high level of performance.
The governor praised the exceptional performance of the champion, emphasizing that her athletic success serves as an inspiring model for the youth of the governorate. He highlighted her determination and perseverance in achieving milestones despite challenges, stating, “We are proud to have a champion like Maha Shaaban, who not only represents the governorate and competes locally but also raises Egypt’s name high on international platforms.”
For her part, MP Maha Shaaban expressed her gratitude for the recognition, affirming that it serves as a strong motivation to continue her athletic journey and achieve further accomplishments. She also highlighted her commitment to her parliamentary role, striving to support the causes of individuals with special needs and improve their conditions across various fields.
It is worth noting that MP Maha Shaaban joined the Egyptian national team in 2007 and has since achieved numerous local and international championships, earning several gold and bronze medals. Her accomplishments have established her as one of the most prominent athletes in track and field for individuals with special needs.
The National Athletics Championship for individuals with special needs is regarded as one of the most competitive local tournaments. This year, it witnessed the participation of athletes from various governorates at the Kafr El-Sheikh Sports Stadium, competing in events such as shot put, javelin throw, discus throw, long jump, and races of varying distances.
