In line with the principles of the Greater Ramtha Municipality in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and its commitment to serving individuals with special needs in accordance with the standards and principles set by the United Nations, the Greater Ramtha Municipality has adopted several initiatives aimed at supporting these individuals and overcoming any challenges they may face.
In a press statement, the Mayor of the Greater Ramtha Municipality, Ahmed Al-Khaza’leh, explained that the initiative, supported by USAID in its first phase, involved manufacturing 15 carts, with additional carts to be produced by the municipality’s staff.
Al-Khaza’leh stated that this phase targeted families of individuals with special needs to alleviate their burdens and provide medical supplies. He added that the municipality is keen on implementing numerous initiatives, projects, and services that support humanitarian work, particularly for individuals with special needs. This aligns with the municipality’s strategic goals of enhancing community participation, improving the standard of living, and providing a humane, healthy, and safe work environment for all.
Al-Khaza’leh announced the conditions for obtaining the carts designated for hot drinks and light snacks, which will be operated in Ramtha and Al-Buwayda. These carts are aimed at families of individuals with special needs, based on a study of the most marginalized and needy target group to ensure the sustainable operation of the cart, benefiting from the income to support families of individuals with special needs and provide their medical and therapeutic supplies, thus alleviating their burdens and providing opportunities for them and their families.
He mentioned that the municipality has proposed regulations and organizational mechanisms for licensing the “basta” carts to prevent irregular employment from occupying spaces.
Al-Khaza’leh pointed out that the municipality’s proposal aims to limit the phenomenon of unorganized and random occupation in commercial areas and the spread of random stalls and antiques, which have negatively affected the city’s appearance.
