Helwan University organized a visit for its special needs students to the Cairo International Book Fair in collaboration with the Social Solidarity Unit. The visit was under the patronage of Dr. Sayed Kandil, President of Helwan University, and Dr. Hossam Rafai, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, as part of Egypt’s commitment to promoting culture and knowledge and encouraging youth to read.
This visit is part of Helwan University’s support for the Cairo International Book Fair’s role as a main platform for disseminating knowledge and enhancing students’ culture. The fair provides a unique opportunity to explore the latest local and global publications in various fields, contributing to building a well-informed and aware generation about national and regional issues.
The students’ visit featured a special tour inside the pavilion of the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the National Council for Special Needs, followed by attending a roundtable seminar introducing the DAISY format for reading books, focusing on challenges and expectations for special needs individuals and touring the fair.
Dr. Sayed Kandil, President of the University, emphasized the importance of visiting the book fair in raising students’ awareness of the significance of reading as a means to develop intellectual and creative abilities. He added that the university is keen on organizing such events to prepare young cadres capable of contributing to comprehensive national development.
Dr. Hossam Rafai praised the significant role that the book fair plays in shaping students’ awareness, opening new horizons for them, and highlighting the university’s commitment to diverse inclusive activities for special needs students.
The visit was filled with positive atmospheres of enthusiasm and interaction among the students. Through this visit, Helwan University reaffirms its continuous support for activities that contribute to shaping students’ personalities and instilling in them values of loyalty and patriotism, believing in the role of culture and knowledge in building a better future.
The visit was supervised by General Mohamed Abu Sheka, Secretary-General of the University, Hisham Rafat, Assistant Secretary for Education and Students, Mohamed Gad, General Manager of Student Care Administration, Dr. Riham Khattab, Project Manager at the University, and student Youssef Ahmed, President of Helwan University Student Union.
The visit was overseen by the Student Care Administration staff, including Ashraf Bayoumi, Tarek Ismail, Mostafa Gad, Mohamed Sami, Ashraf Youssef, Elham Farouk, Yosria Abdel Hamid, Naglaa Lotfi, and Iman Ibrahim.
